Any seriously used application will take the same amount of time to learn and use. It's just sad that nowadays, reading the user manual already makes you an expert compared to the average user.

It doesn't necessarily take much more extra time than the proprietary ones. Just download it instead of buying a proprietary app from a sotore, and use the thing. If you have any extra time, you might even file a bug report.
